The research is clear: kids thrive when schools and families partner to support student success. How do you engage hard-to-reach families and what are the practical steps you can take to collaborate with the families for school improvement?
We’ll explore those questions and lessons during a Professional Learning Community-style course based on Ari Gerzon-Kessler’s On the Same Team, Bringing Educators and Underrepresented Families Together. Participants will have a chance to share and learn about what’s working across Alaska while applying lessons learned to a family-educator team project.
When: Every other Tuesday, 4:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m., September 16 – December 9
Who: School or District staff interested in supporting a family team
Cost: Free (including optional credits through the University of Alaska Anchorage)
