Angoon School District
Parents and community members in Chatham District’s Angoon Schools recently created the ASC (Angoon School Community) to provide input on school issues. Whether it is a PTA, an advisory school board, a site council, or a new group like the Angoon School Community, creating ongoing opportunities for families to share their concerns and provide feedback can go a long way toward fostering family-school partnerships.
In January, the Angoon School Community asked AFEC team member Lisa Worl to provide a training titled “Building up our muscles for Family Advocacy in School.” Just as school staff needs support and training when trying something new, families do too.
